LONDON (3 February 2016) 鈥 If you want to transform your love of writing into a career and see your work published in one of the UK鈥檚 most successful travel magazines, the 2016 National Geographic Traveller Travel Writing competition could be your fortuitous foot in the door.

Simply write 500 words on an inspirational travel experience. Keep it focused, capture the essence of a destination and ensure it has National Geographic Traveller鈥檚 defining features: immersive travel and authentic storytelling.

Pat Riddell, editor of National Geographic Traveller, said, 鈥淭his is a really exciting opportunity for all budding travel writers, with the chance to be published in the magazine and win a trip to Madagascar. Previous winners have set the bar very high and we look forward to reading this year鈥檚 entries.鈥

The winner will embark on a small group expedition led by Daniel Austin and Hilary Bradt, authors of the award-winning Bradt guides to Madagascar and Madagascar Wildlife. The 17-day safari will take you from the lemur-rich eastern rainforests of Andasibe-Mantadia National Park to the spectacular limestone pinnacles and canyons of the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park.
